What is an eBook

eBooks, aren’t they cool? Did you know that eBooks are one of the most popular downloadable items on the internet today. People are looking for information and the easiest most efficient way to send information is by a PDF or HTML eBook.

I’m going to start with the extreme basics for those of you who may have no clue what an eBook is.   

 An eBook is simply an PDF or ”Electronic Book”. It is exactly the same as a regular book; but it is not physical.  e-Books can be read on your PC and are usually delivered via email or directly from a download page in a zip file format. eBooks come in two formats:. PDF – These are opened in Adobe Acrobat reader  and EXE files – .exe files can be opened on any Windows PC without the need for any additional software to be installed.

  If you’ve been on the Internet for a while, you’ve probably visited some web sites that offered you a free eBook. The eBook usually contains some helpful information with regard to the subject and provides information about the web site’s products or services.

 These sites aren’t just giving away this information to be kind to their visitors. They are giving it away to increase their visitors and their sales. Once they offer a free eBook the eBook then goes Viral. Meaning that it can be set loose and passed around from one person to another on the Internet

 Let’s say for example that Jossie is a hair stylist.  Jossie compiles a collection of her best designs, compiles it into a pdf and offers it as a free download on her blog. Susie downloads the pdf and loves the styles so much she sets up an appointment. But Susie doesn’t stop there. She sees several styles that would be perfect for her friends Molly, Hollie, and Dolly and emails them the pdf. See how easily they can become Viral?   That is what makes an eBook such a great viral marketing tool for businesses because they have the ability to reach thousands of people every day!

   As the internet grows larger eBooks are being used more and more as a medium for sharing marketing information, ideas, hobbies, learning techniques, and expert knowledge. If your building a business an eBook can be used as a sales brochure, a marketing campaign, or a how to instruction manual. 
  

    That’s what makes information products, such as eBooks, reports, etc., so appealing. Not only do they provide people with the information they desire, almost instantly, (as they can be purchased and downloaded within a matter of minutes) but they are also the ‘perfect’ product for marketers, as they are one of the cheapest and easiest products you can create.

And, since it’s digital, the profit margin is phenomenal –  you can sell your product over and over again.
